expediageneralmanager.jpg Expedia, Inc, the world's largest online travel company and operator of the Expedia.com.auTM and Expedia.co.nz websites in Australasia, has announced the appointment of Nicolas Chu as General Manager, Australia and New Zealand. In this role, he is responsible for the development and operation of the company in Australasia.

Prior to this role, he was Director, Retail and Product Strategy for Expedia Asia Pacific, responsible for Expedia’s websites in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and India.

Mr Chu has several years’ experience in website strategic vision and has impressive capabilities in e-commerce retailing, advanced technologies, project management, as well as online marketing strategies and usability.

Before joining Expedia France in 2004 as the manager of the e-commerce production team, he was a Senior Project Manager with GDS Amadeus.

“Expedia in Australia & New Zealand combined are now within the top seven markets of Expedia worldwide. Our ambition in this market is to become the single best place for travellers to book travel online,” said Mr Chu.

Mr Chu’s appointment follows a few months after the appointment of Dan Lynn, Managing Director, Expedia Asia Pacific, who replaced Arthur Hoffman following his appointment as Managing Director of Venere.com, another Expedia, Inc. subsidiary based in Rome.

Earlier this month, Expedia unveiled its first television and cinema brand campaign in Australia and New Zealand, following an extensive process of traveller engagement to understand what really mattered to Australian and Kiwi travellers.
