Expedia Australia creates innovative mapplet on Google Maps with travel booking facilities and user-reviews
Have you ever booked a hotel only to find that it’s on the wrong side of town? Expedia.com.au has created a comprehensive “mapplet” in Google Maps, which is designed to help customers choose their hotel at their chosen destination. The mapplet, launching today and visible on http://maps.google.com.au will offer an interactive map, booking facilities for hotels and attractions, and independent user reviews.
Online travel company, Expedia.com.auTM, has launched a new microsite for travellers to UK and France, “A taste of Britain and France”. The microsite features extensive information on tours, activities and destinations that will assist travellers in getting the most out of their itineraries. Customers booking a trip through the microsite also have the chance to win a free trip to Paris and London for two, including flights, accommodation, trips on the Eurostar and admission to major tourist attractions. Online travel company fits 12 people into Smart Car
Global online travel company, Expedia.com.auTM, succeeded in breaking an Australian record by fitting 12 people into a Smart Car. With no verified record in the country, the company set an Australian first by squeezing employees into their branded Smart Car in a recent team building exercise.
Expedia Australia Marketing Director, Kristi Barrow, who orchestrated the stunt said, “We thought it would be a fun way to get the staff involved in our latest marketing initiative with our branded Smart Car. It was fun, but needless to say, a tight fit!” Read more
Eastern Europe emerges as favourite must-see destination for 2008, while making travel carbon neutral barely rates a mention
This year will see Australians visiting new and different destinations, according to a recent poll into Australians’ travel resolutions for 2008 conducted by online travel company Expedia.com.au.
Almost two-thirds (64%) of the survey’s 5,000 respondents chose visiting a completely new and different destination as their number one travel resolution for 2008; interestingly, however, only 4% of respondents chose making all future trips carbon neutral as their number one travel resolution for 2008.
